Day 13

Today was a pretty good day, not gonna lie though, it was hard getting in all the calories I was supposed to. My new calorie balance is 1713 calories so keep that in mind. For meal 1 I had 3 scrambled egg whites with pico de gallo on 2 wheat tortillas and a grapefruit (371 calories). Then for a snack I had 1 and a half large carrots (45 calories). Meal 2 I had a turkey burger patty with balsamic vinaigrette dressing and some sweet potato fries (357 calories). When I got back from class I had 4 more large carrots for a snack (120 calories) and then for meal 3 I had a chicken quarter and 3 cups of mixed vegetables (405 calories). After my workout I snacked on 2tbs of peanut butter (200 calories) and then I had a large pancake with syrup for my last meal of the day  (681 calories). At the end of the day my caloric intake was 2179 calories and after my workout I ended the day with 21 extra calories (balance of 1692 calories).

The workout itself kicked my butt...yet again. I feel myself getting stronger but the workouts definitely haven't gotten easier. But I guess that's a good thing, I know I'm burning calories when I'm struggling to get through the workout. Today on the june on fire calendar we had a new video that she put up today and it was torture. I was soooo sweaty after that first one I couldn't see from all the sweat in my face plus I was sliding all over the mat and the floor. Gross right, but at least we know it's working!!!! I muscled my way through and as always I felt accomplished. My goal for tomorrow is to again eat all the calories I should be and get more reps in of exercises that I did today. Wish me luck!!!

Day 12

Today it was lovely having a workout break but I have to admit, I did feel strange not doing it. I was tempted to workout anyways but i knew my body needed a break. For meal 1 I treated myself to 2 homemade pancakes with homemade syrup (880 calories). For meal 2 I had 2 hard boiled eggs with mustard, pepper, cayenne pepper, and paprika (150 calories). Meal 3/snack I had popcorn, mmmm popcorn (112 calories). For my last meal(meal 5) I had a turkey burger on a wheat bun with balsamic vinaigrette dressing and BBQ sauce (388 calories). Then a few hours later I snacked on the last if my sweets, some left over marshmallow frosting (yummy and only 154 calories). My ending caloric intake was 1683 calories. Per my change in activity level I updated my calorie app from sedentary to moderately active so my new caloric intake allowance is 1713 calories. This left me with a leftover balace of 29 calores. Either next week or the week after I'll update it again to very active since I would have consistently been working out intensively 6 days a week and I'll probably need the extra calories I keep my metabolism from slowing.

Overall it was a good day and I still felt productive. I did laundry, cut up all my carrots into sticks for snacks, and made my pico de gallo for the week. My goal for tomorrow is to fully eat my new calorie amount and try to push through all the reps of my workout.

Motivational quote for the day and week. Here's to moving towards making a life change and not just being on another diet.

Day 11

Man how the time flies. Day 11 already, CRAZAYY!!! Today I had a late start to the day and I didn't have breakfast until around 11. I only had 2 eggs on 1 wheat tortilla today with hot sauce (247 calories). For my second meal I tried this new recipe  for healthy ice cream sandwiches on blogilates.com. It was soooo good and only 520 calories for both (210 calories), a much needed calorie boost for my day and it was only bananas and oatmeal.

Look at that yumminess!!!

Then for my meal 3/post-workout meal I had 2 turkey burger patties on ice burg lettuce topped with balsamic vinaigrette dressing with sweet potato fries on the side (602 calories). This brought my daily caloric intake to 1396. My workout today was a little lighter but my arms and abs were on fire. It was ab and arm day on the june on fire blogilates calendar. After the workout I was 349 calories under my 1400 calorie daily budget.

I am so proud of myself for making it a full 6 days working out. Soooo looking forward to my day off to recuperate, relax, and plan my next week of healthy living. I'm probably going to prep my meals and snacks for the week and I'm going to try and get to the store so I can craft some water bottles so I can increase my water intake.

My goal for tomorrow is to enjoy my day off, eat all 4-5 meals, and hit my daily caloric intake so that my body can replenish nourishment from my epic workout week and prepare it for another one, and drink all the ounces of water I'm suppose to. Wish me luck.

Post-workout pic, not as sweaty my man I was on fire on the inside

Day 10

Workout week almost over yayyy!!!!!! Ok, so today I was pretty light on the calorie side but I did manage to get my 4 meal goal today. For breakfast I had 3 scrambled eggs on 2 wheat tortillas with hots sauce and a half a grapefruit totaling 522 calories. For my second meal I had 6 tbs of Greek yogurt and my last two mini lemon cupcakes totaling 227 calories. For meal 3 I had a peanut butter and apple jelly sandwich on wheat bread totaling 350 calories.  Then for my pre-workout meal for I had 2 cups of mixed vegetables (153 calories). I'm definitely not as sore as I was yesterday (go me!!!) but today I still got my butt kicked. It was another cardio day on the june on fire blogilates calendar and I pushed myself so hard by the end I was out of breath and laying on the floor panting like a thick haired dog in outside in the middle of the summer in west Texas (see pics below for my in agony face). I did more reps on certain exercises than I did yesterday but I'll admit I didn't make it through all of them.

My goal for tomorrow is to increase my calorie intake since my workouts are getting more intense and burning more calories.

Post workout pics. I literally was dying, look at all that sweat!!!

Day 9

For meal 1 I had my normal 3 eggs on 2 wheat tortillas with hot sauce, totaling 522 calories. For meal two I had an Italian seasoned skinless chicken quarter with lime green beans (185 calories). Meal 3 I treated my self to a small piece of cake and 3tbs of plain Greek yogurt (342 calories all together). For meal 4 I had a pb&j sandwich on wheat bread and then after my workout I had 4tbs of plain Greek yogurt. Today felt pretty good because I didn't really crave that much sugar as I have the last few days. In fact I barely got through my last small piece of birthday cake because I thought it was too sweet. Luckily all the pastries are gone now (with the exception of 2 mini cupcakes). Now to the good stuff.

Just a heads up my legs were absolutely KILLING ME today after that 100 burpee burnout from yesterday. I literally felt like my legs were going to give out all day long. I seriously debated not working out because I thought my legs couldn't take it. But you know what, I decided to try anyways and if it got to the point where they wouldn't support me anymore then I would stop the workout. I had to at least try though. So when I got home from work I drank a glass of water, massaged my legs, and took a 45 minute nap. When I woke up I immediately changed to my workout clothes and did it. Guess what happened? My legs didn't give out, fall off, or run away, they survived!!! Let me tell you, it was so motivating and I felt so strong because I was actually able to go through more leg related reps/squats today than I have when my legs didn't hurt. Today was day 6 of the JuneOnFire calendar. Today it consisted of  VS stiletto leg workoutSexy Broom Burn for Trim Thighs & Sculpted BackHIITilates: My Thighs are Dying!Bikini Blaster 7: Bodacious Back + Sleek Shoulders, and Gangnam Style Call Me Maybe Mashup Squat Challenge. Not gonna lie though, a little scared to see how sore my legs and arms are tomorrow but working out sore muscles is supposed to help right? So theoretically my legs and arms won't feel like they're about to fall off right? Right?!?! Don't answer that. Oh well, like they say truth comes out in the morning so I guess we'll see.

Alrighty, my goal for tomorrow is to finish out the week strong with eating right and working out no matter what. I SHALL HAVE A BODY OF STEEL!!! Oh and check out what I started inspired by something off my pinterst board.

It takes 21 days to make a habit. Who's down for challenge because I am!!!

And here it is my sweaty post workout pic. (that shine is sweat so you know)
*make sure to check out my week 1 update to see the post week 1 final pics.

Week 1 Weigh In!!

Since I've started adding workouts to my healthy eating a week ago I've lost 3.3 pounds!!!!! Not gonna lie, at first I was like only 3 pounds but then after I got to thinking and image looking that's actually quite a big amount in just one week. Basically since there are 3500 calories in a pound of fat I ran a total deficit of 10,500 calories over the past week with watching calories and working out combined!!! Considering I missed a day and had heavy calorie birthday food that's amazing. Imagine the progress I'll have the more consistent I am with staying on my healthy lifestyle course. This has definitely propelled my motivation even more and I know I'm going to work even harder to achieve what I can. All the soreness and working out when I didn't want to, all the days I still worked out no matter what the time was totally worth it. Proof that you just got to get down and do it the hard way.

You know what I've realized, is at the end of the day fat is stored energy so the only way to get rid of it is to use it. So what better way you use it then busting your but everyday doing something you like/love to do. My advice to everyone is pick a workout plan that works for you, one where you feel successful even if you struggle your way through. For me it's variations of yoga, pilates, and dance so just keep in mind what's best for your friends may not be best for you. Just get moving!!! Lastly and above all do it naturally and make sure you're eating!!!! When you have a constant flow of calories you're body no longer feels the need to store calories because you've trained it to realize it's going to get nourishment every couple of hours. That way your body uses the calories you eat to run the day to day processes of your body and uses the stored fat to fuel your workout.  I guess what I'm getting at here is that complete food restriction is dangerous and often back fires. Just learn to moderate. I mean look at me I had cake and bread this week and still lost weight, what does that tell you.

*Diagram of how much I lost this week. Equivalent to three handfuls of fatty fat!!!

Alright everyone, enough of my rambling I was just really happy and felt the need to share that news along with some wisdom. Time to continue on this journey!! Week 2 and modbod here I come!!!!

Day 8

Started the day off will my normal 1st meal except I had Ortega sauce instead of pico de gallo. Meal 2 I just had a pb&j and for meal 3 I had a peanut butter and banana sandwich on whole wheat bread. For my post workout nourishment I had a banana and lots of water!!! Total caloric intake was 1445 and my workout burned 541 calories leaving me with a daily deficit of 529!!!!! Not bad eh?

The workout today was a beast, day 3....definitely a killer, but I feel stronger every day. One section of my june on fire workout day scared me when I heard it, the lovely 100 burpee burnout challenge. It was hella hard...I literally almost threw up. This 15minute purgatory was 10 sets of 10 different types of burpees. Harsh right? But in the end I actually ended up doing about 70 of them. I'm proud of myself for doing that many considering at the beginning of the week I could barely do 2 let alone a full set of 10 or 70 for that matter. My burpee goal going in was 50 so I exceeded my expectation 20 fold (ah, get it?). Next week when we have to do it again I'm aiming to do 80-90 of them.  Today was a real trophie for me since I saw the progress first hand in my workout, I could do more reps without falling out or I was able to fight to get back in if I did. I still have a long ways to go but I'm definitely a lot closer now than I was when I started.

I wasn't originally going to work out today but for some reason it felt weird for me not to. I was actually excited about getting home and working out. I didn't want to miss it for some reason. Maybe I'm started to enjoy the adrenaline rush it gives me or maybe it's the feeling of accomplishment and triumph when I'm done. Whichever it is, I can't wait to do it again tomorrow. My goal for tomorrow is to actually eat my four meals so I don't accidentally starve my body of precious calories it needs to power my demanding workouts. Wish me luck!!

Everybody has to start sometime somewhere in order to get where you long to go
